DAVIES TO MISS UNITED CLASS

Wales defender Ben Davies will not be in the Tottenham Hotspur squad for the crucial league game with Manchester United at the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday evening. The Welsh international left-back will miss the United game because of injury.

Davies has not been able to recover from calf problem to make himself available for the league clash with Manchester United. The Wales defender would have likely started the game on the bench if he was fit as he's the second choice left-back in the team behind Sergio Reguilon. Reguilon is a Spanish international player and he's the first choice left-sided defender in the Spurs squad in his first season with the club following his big money transfer from Real Madrid last summer.

While Davies won't be in the Spurs squad for the United game, his Wales national team colleague Gareth Bale is on course to make the squad though the Real Madrid loanee is likely to be named as a substitute from the start. Bale is on loan at Tottenham from Spanish La Liga champions Real Madrid.

Apart from Davies, Tottenham will also be without right-back Matt Doherty who has not been at his best this season. The Republic of Ireland player has not hit the heights in his first season as a Spurs player. Doherty has failed to replicate his Wolves form in North London following his £15m move last summer. He will miss the United game due to a muscle injury.

For Manchester United, the trio of Anthony Martial, Phil Jones and Eric Baillywill miss the trip to North London to face Spurs. Martial could miss the rest of the season with the knee injury he picked up while he was on international duty with world champions France at the end of last month. He was taken off during the 2-0 away win over Kazakhstan in what was a 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier in the UEFA section.

Just like Martial, Jones is out of the Spurs game with a knee problem that has forced him to miss the whole season, while Ivorian defender Bailly has tested positive to Covid-19.
