Following the World Cup, Wales received a major disappointing news that Gareth Bale had declared his international retirement. After the spectacular career that started with his debut in 2006, the 33-year-old went on to make 100+ appearances for the national team. His last and final goal came at the World Cup as he took his total tally to 41 from 111 appearances.

Page claims that Gareth has been able to put the national team on the world map with his incredible performances over the years.

During his time with Tottenham and Real Madrid, he has been able to achieve some incredible success. As the top player for the Welsh national team, has been able to carry the national team on numerous occasions. He was presented with the MBE award in 2022.

He has also been crowned as the Welsh Footballer of the Year on five occasions.Page remains confident that future generations will be able to make the most of Bale’s impact.

There is no doubt that the presence of Bale will be missed with the national team, as per the manager.

"It's phenomenal what he's done for us - not just from a footballing point of view but as a nation as well.

He's put Wales on the map globally for what he's done in European football at Real Madrid and what he did at Tottenham in the Premier League and then in the World Cup with Wales. From a cultural point of view and for Wales in general, we should all be very proud over what he's done for us,” said Page.
