LLANELLI THROUGH IN CUP

LLANELLI 1 ABERYSTWYTH TOWN 0

A superb Wyn Thomas, reminiscent of one by Cristiano Ronaldo, free kick thirteen minutes into the first period of extra time proved in the end to be enough to secure the Reds place in the next round of the competition where they will face a tricky away trip to Cymru Alliance side Cefn Druids at the end of January.

Having already defeated their opponents four days earlier to earn a league cup final place, the home side struggled in the first period to put together any telling moves, offering little in the way of a threat to the visitors goal.

In fact, Aberystwyth created the better scoring chances, with Ricky Evans playing in Lewis Codling with a chip over the defence, but Ashley Morris did well to block his attempt from ten yards.

Chris Holloway did set up a chance for Rhys Griffiths with a ball down the middle, but goalkeeper Steven Cann was alert to the danger and affected a clearance.

Both sides were guilty of failing to string together any worthwhile moves, although Codling might have done better when set up by a Luke Sherbon pass, but sent his shot wide of the Reds near post.

Morris made a safe catch when Evans lobbed the ball into the goalmouth, but after the restart the Reds finally were far more positive and might have gone ahead on a number of occasions.

They had a golden chance on 50 minutes when Jordan Follows was brought down in the box by Adam Pepper after Griffiths played him in with a great ball over the top, but for once Griffiths failed to hit the target with Cann guessing correctly by throwing himself to his right and push the penalty kick around the post.

Stuart Jones did get the ball into the net from an Owain Warlow corner, but it was disallowed for foul on the goalkeeper, and the Aberystwyth goal then survived an amazing escape when Chris Venables drove the ball along the goal line where it struck the inside of the far post before being hacked clear.

Here is my 'Bright Future XI'. Cech is in nets - hes not THAT young, but still got about 10 years left at the top! Ivanovic, Ramsey, Kompany and Young would be in defence. Milner, obi Mikel, Aquilani and Tevez in midfield. Santo and Sturridge would be a class front two.

Do any of you guys seriously believe that Liverpool, Tottenham or Man City can topple Man Utd and take the Premier League trophy? Even if Liverpool had Kuyt and Mascherano back I can't see it!

Top teams that should be at the World Cup:France, Germany, Italy, Serbia, Uruguay

Rubbish teams that shouldn't: Australia, Chile, Ghana, Honduras, New Zealand, Nigeria, Paraguay, Slovakia, Switzerland

What is is with Chelsea these days - they never seem to give youth a chance? Yes we have youngsters like McEachran and Kalou coming through slowly, but when are we goping to replace the 30-somthings - the likes of Cole, Carvalho, Ballack, Malouda, Bosingwa and Ferreira???

Can someone please explian to me what is the point of Walcott, especially when we have just sold someone like Eduardo. Does Arsene Wenger have any idea what he is doing?! If I could go back to the days of Anelka, I totally would!

With Ronaldo and Adebayor up front, Real Madrid can finally beat Barcelona! Casillas, Kaka and Ramos are absolutely immense!

How did Russia end up with the World Cup. You would have thought the England bid was the best, closely followed by the Spain one. But Russia? Seriously!?

My dream Man United XI would be Foster in nets, with Gallas, Gibbs, Clichy and Vermaelen in defence. Fletcher would lead a midfield made up of Essien, Babel and Cole, with youngsters Welbeck and Macheda up front. How awesome a team would that be?!

My favourite team is Arsenal. With Fabregas, Arshavin, Nasri and van Persie we have the makings of an amazing team.

Did you see the goals that Saha scored? Golacccccciooooo! Love it when you Bet on football and it all comes off :) Buying some new Soccer Boots with my winnings :)

Are Newcastle fans supposed to support Celtic or Rangers? AC or Inter? Its difficult to tell!

Are Barry and Given some of the most under-rated footballers ever? If they werer playing at Man Utd instead of City then they would be getting comapred to the Ronaldo's of this world. As it is, its like they play Soccer like a bunch of donkeys. Add Friedel to the under-rated list too!
